I’ve been awarded a three-week residency at the Vermont Studio Center. Each year, the Center receives in excess of 5,000 applications and awards approximately 400 residencies. The Vermont Studio Center was founded by artists in 1984 to provide studio residencies in an inclusive, international community, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. The Center’s buildings, many of them historic Vermont landmarks, overlook the Gihon River in the northern Green Mountains. For four decades, the Center’s residency program has offered residents an opportunity to engage with global creative communities. The Center invites Visiting Writers and Artists from around the world to visit during the residencies to mentor residents, present readings, facilitate craft talks, and give lectures that are open to the public.
